You can, however, use it for visa application purposes at embassy, consolatory office, immigration authority etc.

Your insurance certificate and/or insurance policy confirming the validity of your insurance together with the rest of the product documentation will be sent to your email address as and pdf file immediately after the payment of the insurance premium.
Immediately after the payment you can download and print all documents as the last step of the online purchase process and of course they will be also sent automatically to your email address in form of the pdf files at the same time.
The insurance period may vary depending on your needs, however, the minimum duration is usually 1 month and the maximum duration is 36 months (3 years).
Typical exclusions are usually:
  • Willful damage,
  • Non-following doctor’s instructions and recommendations,
  • Situations which happen in a country that is not covered by the insurance,
  • disorderly conduct with active participation of the insured person
  • etc.

You can buy most products but be aware that already existing illnesses or any other medical problem known to you when you buy the insurance is usually excluded. It means that medical costs related to the treatment of such illness or problem will not be covered by your insurance. The insurance, however, will usually cover other illnesses and injuries not related to your already existing illness. It depends on each product. In case of need, always contact the insurance company. Contact details are part of the product documentation sent to your email address immediately after you successfully finish the purchase. Most of our partners also provide online forms or mobile applications for claim reporting.
We highly recommend having contact details of your insurance company and their 24/7 assistance service always with you during the whole time of your stay.
The insurance can be on behalf of the insured person arranged by anyone older 18 years of age. You only need to be able to enter all obligatory information about the insured person, typically: name, age, citizenships, passport no., address, email address etc.
Each product covers medical expenses for at least:
  • Necessary and urgent health care in a medical facility which comply with high EU standards.
  • Repatriation of ill person back home (incl. repatriation of his/her body in case of death).
However, insurers usually cover much more and add coverage of more risks and services like for instance preventive medical examinations, liability cover, risk sports, pregnancy and labor medical expenses, health care of new born babies and much more.

The Schengen insurance premium can be paid only online as a part of the purchase process. Payment is not process by us but always by certified and professional payment providers via their secured payment portals and applications. Schengen.insure does not have access to any private or sensible information about your payment means (in any phase of the purchase process).
The premium payment is processed, based on your selection, through your payment card or your PayPal account. Supported payment cards are Visa or Mastercard and the payment is provided by a global payment provider PayU.
Yes, you can. All products we offer can be used as an alternative to travel insurance. Your medical expenses abroad (including repatriation) will be covered no matter if you need Schengen visa. These products can be then bought also in case you do not apply for Schengen visa.

Your health or travel insurance must meet following conditions:
  • Minimum coverage limit of 30.000 EUR.
  • The insurance covers the necessary health care costs in case of illness, accident or death.
  • The insurance covers the cost of repatriation of the insured person or his/her body (in case of death) to his/her home country.
  • The policy covers the whole Schengen zone.
  • The insurance coverage is valid throughout the whole duration of the stay (or transit) in the Schengen Zone.
Recommendation: each Schengen zone country can apply additional conditions for the travel insurance associated with their visas. Therefore, always contact the embassy or consular office of the country you enter on your journey to the Schengen zone for their specific conditions and requirements.
It depends on your country and your current health care scheme/program. Please contact your health insurance company to learn more about your health care scheme/program and their terms and conditions regarding your trip abroad. Make sure, however, that it also covers repatriation costs (i.e. costs of medical transport from abroad to your home country) in case of illness, injury and death, which is not usually the case. Please be aware that repatriation costs can be enormous - $100,000 and even more. Cover of repatriation costs is also one of the main conditions for Schengen visa.

The embassy or consulate office will provide you with detailed and updated information about the visa requirements, procedures and requirements regarding your specific situation.
The basic rules regarding the Schengen visa are described in the Visa Code (Regulation EC No. 810/2009) where it is said that citizens of certain countries need a valid visa to visit any country that is member of the Schengen zone. This is necessary also if one is only traveling through a country in the zone.

The Schengen visa rule 90/180 states that you can apply for a Schengen visa, so called short-term or unified visa, only in case you have not spent more than 90 days in past 180 days (half year) in Schengen zone from the date of your first entry of the Schengen area. Once 90 days in respective half year expire, you must leave the Schengen zone. You may apply for a new visa and return again in next half year (after first 180 days expire).
All foreigners from non-EU countries including visa waiver regime countries must comply with the Schengen Rule 90/180.
